Cyberpunk genre -focuses on the idea of high technology and low life. along with advanced science and radical social order. Uses science in a way that the creators never inticipated it to be. Focuses on near future earth rather than far future.
1. How does this concept go with the book The Stars My Destination?
Alex : In this newly found space age Jaunting has opened many doors to technological advances although culturaly this has set some parts of civilization back.
Examples: Even with the new weapons and securety systems women must be held in rooms with no windows or doors to protect their inocense and to keep their safety also its difficult for women to find natural and respectable jobs as portraited through Jiz
Also the scientific people, even with there grasp of great knowlege they have resorted socially to a culture of almost stone age but mixed with scientific ideals and technology
Keira: The idea of Cyberpunk portrays in the book by the use of the major technology as in cyborging Gully and the new Pyre. The low life comes into this by showing how the woman no longer get any respect what so ever. they are basically slaves in their own world . Science is used in ways i don't even think possible by creating men into robots and creating a major explosive that could end all of life with just a thought.
Allison: I think cyberpunk relates to this book mostly because the new technology and a faster way of transportation. science is used in ways of creating a new life or making up super drugs.
Heather: My opinion of cyberpunk is that it fits the novel perfectly. Through out the novel, thousands of scientific invetions, facts and different ideas are portrayed through out different part of various chapters.
